There are several other places to look for scholarships in addition to searching on the free scholarship search websites including Fastweb. However, I will list several other sources to locate scholarships.
First, fill out the forms with FAFSA because it will help you tap into need based financial aid from the state, federal government and the college itself. It is based on the family income and resources if an undergraduate student, but it is based on your income and resources as a graduate student.
Second, check with the high school guidance office if a current high school student. They have a list of local scholarships for a person to apply for consideration.
Third, the college financial aid office and website has a list of private scholarships offered by companies and organizations. Sometimes, a college major will have a list of scholarships on its web page, too.
Fourth, search Yahoo.com and Google.com for scholarships based on your race, ethnicity, college major, and religion. Sometimes, you can find scholarships that are not listed on the free scholarship searches that way.
Finally, the public library has a book which lists various scholarships. Some of them are not even listed on the web.
Good luck!

Some scholarships for college are merit-based. You earn them by meeting or exceeding certain standards set by the scholarship-giver. Merit scholarships might be awarded based on academic achievement or on a combination of academics and a special talent, trait, or interest. Other scholarships are based on financial need. Many scholarships are geared toward particular groups of people; for instance, there are scholarships for women or high school seniors. And some are available because of where you or your parent work, or because you come from a certain background (for instance, there are scholarships for military families).
A scholarship might cover the entire cost of your tuition, or it might be a one-time award of a few hundred dollars. Either way, it’s worth applying for, because it’ll help reduce the cost of your education. You can learn about scholarships in several ways, including contacting the financial aid office at the school you plan to attend and checking information in a public library or online. But be careful. Make sure scholarship information and offers you receive are legitimate; and remember that you don't have to pay to find scholarships or other financial aid.
