You obviously have a weak stomach.
Simple tips to follow:
1. Eat at home if you can. If you have to eat out, stick to good restaurants. Eat lightly and avoid the cut salads and cut fruits. Definitely also avoid the overspiced and oily north indian food. You would be better off with Tadka Daal and rice or hot-off-the-stove rotis.
2. Drink lots of fluids. You can pick up fruit juices at reasonable prices in India. I would recommend Real Activ. These juices have enough anti-oxidants to keep you healthy. Drink them in the morning with breakfast as well as after lunch.
3. Eat Curds or drink buttermilk with every meal.

Bottled water is okay. But what about food? Whether it is a cheap restaurant or posh restaurnat the food is invariably contaminated. Only it differs in the quantity of contamination.
You have to avoid all outside hotel food. You must prepare your own food. That is the only solution to your problem. If you cannot prepare or there is no such facility to prepare you have to depend on Fresh bread and some packed ready to eat food (branded).
If Branded packed food is not availabe you can take roti or chapati from a good hotel but without curry or any such thing.
Only chapati and bread lacks vitamins and proteins. So take milk if you are not allergic and small quantity of fruits. Take one multiviamin tablet like 'Becadexamin' daily as long as you are in india with this type of unbalanced but necessary diet.
This is not only your problem but of all who take outside food when away from home.

*********Yes alot of people post alot of crap. I have noticed such as this "man" who keeps referring this irrelevent link. Please don't open it. I don't know what it is but I have my doubts.
I can only suggest that you change the brand of bottled water that you are drinking and wash the vegetables and fruits you eat over there thoroughly. At home make sure things are cooked in clean pots and pans. Or you can take bottled water from here if that is allowed. With all the new safety regulations I am unsure.
If your doctor could not help then I don't know what else to tell you. Im sorry that you have to deal with this. I'd be annoyed and upset as well.

Get your hemoglobulin before you leave the states for sure.
In most countries that don't have a sanitized water line, you're going to have single-celled organisms in your water.
People lived with it centuries ago, and people live with it, now. The natives don't have any problems. Do you know why? They are used to it.
I would say drink a little of the water when you get there to introduce it to your system. After you get the first round of diarrhea, your body should be able to handle the water as it's then built up a tolerance to the parasites in the water main.

No i go to India every year and at least for a month. I have never faced this problem. You need to be very carefull with food and all, when u go to any another country. Some time it depends on a body. Everyone has a diffrent body. So might be that spicy food doesn't suit you.
