We have a pitbull/lab mix and she could just about chew through anything. Shoes, purses, firewood! etc... I saw this advertisement on tv for a ball that was supposed to be totally indestructable for dogs. And, I though yeah, right. She will go through it in about 8 minutes. Anyway, I bought her one. It is called a Kong Ball. It is made out of very thick (about and inch thick) rubber and it has holes in it where you can put snacks.
She loves that thing! I put snacks in it and she will spend an hour trying to figure out how to get the treat out. She loves them so much that I bought her five of them. I fill them with treats when I leave for work and then hide them around the house for her to find while I am gone.
No more chewed up shoes, garbage spread from stem to stern, furniture knawed on...
Anyway, they are called Kong Ball. I have been able to find them in regular grocery stores like Safeway and in pet stores like PetSmart. They are kind of expensive--$13-14 a piece. But, cheaper than a new pair of shoes!
Good luck. I hope your dog has as much fun with them as mine does.

A Kong toy is the best. Ours is 5 months and don't give it raw hide. We just did the surgey for intestial blockage. Beagles need a lot of exercise, you'll find the more she gets the less she'll chew. Remember they are hunting dogs needs to run or they get bored. We got a used trend mill, and she loves it.

Definitely keep things out of her reach. Eating things like that can turn into a life-threatening habit. Give her indestructible toys, like kongs. I don't know how much you play with her, but taking her on a long, brisk walk once or twice a day might help with her energy level. If she's tired from exercise, she might not chew as much.
Please don't give her shoes. She might get confused about which shoes are toys and which are off limits. She also might chew off little metal parts of bits of fabric and swallow them.

Get her lots of chew bones, my beagle loves them! My dog can spend hours chewing on them. They come in all sorts of flavors too, and if you give it to her once a day everyday, she'll look foward to it.

just be careful because some things can get lodged in her digestive tract and kill her. limit her amount of chewing for bones and things that break down quickly, check the safety of how often they can have things like that, nyla bones are really good and last a long time, the kong toys are good, look for things that are sturdy and designed for heavy chewers

Kongs are GREAT for dogs to chew on. Put some peanut butter inside it; it will keep her going for an hour or so.

Give your dog an old shoe, dogs always loves shoes, or, go to the petstore and ask them what's good for a "powerchewing" dog!
