I looked in dictionaries but all it says is "Local church community"...? I need a more thorough explanation...

well, it's a community that is served by the church...

It's the area served by a church. Formerly, it was an administrative unit, which (in the UK) has now been taken over bu local government.

A Parish is the group of people who attend a specific church.
Parishioners are members of the church.

If you live in Louisiana, "counties" are called "parishes."

Its a church,any religious group of people that are established in faith together.They gather to share the same beliefs.Any church you see is a parish.Most often that term is used in catholic Churches.
