Relative in my family I have to see every holiday drives me absolutely crazy sometimes and acts like she's the greatest thing to happen to human beings since Jesus. How do you go about dealing with someone like this and not starting fights?

Be overly nice and I mean overly. Fluff the couch before they can sit bother them while they are in the can ( Do you need anything? More t.p. a mag. etc...) refill their cup often and never put enough ice or too much which ever bugs them the most.Many ways to be nice to the point of someone wanting to strangler you. Then when they blow up on you everyone will see what an A@# they are and not blame you

it seems there is one in every family! i would like to suggest that you try to ignore it and maybe it will go away but i know from personal experience, that is easier said than done. i guess it's possible that they don't even know how aggravating they can be.but that doesn't make it any better for you so in the meantime i'll have to agree with too much. be overly concerned with your relative's well being to the point of madness and see what happens. good luck and no matter what, have a merry christmas.

The only way to not fight with this type of person is to " let it go"
If they are lik that nothing you say will sink in and you are the only one that feels bad. So what if she thinks shes great, you all know the truth, There is a song called familly by dolly parton I try to remember it when I deal with my family. If it makes her happy on the holidays to think she is great then let her have the moment because in reality she cant be all that secure or happy.

Sounds like this lady is suffering from low self -esteem an no one in the outside care for her..so when she's around family (unconditional love) She'll take advantage of it to feel special for how ever many of days! I wouldn't be too mean , that's the only time she can feel special , and u probablly have alot of people who care for you. So be extra nice, the old saying killing them with kindness , and let her enjoy her crummy couple days out of the year feeling better than all. She knows she's not better that's why she acting out so rudly!!
