My husband is a theist and I am agnostic-atheist, but we still celebrate Christmas. Not because of it being Jesus' birthday, but because of the 'spirit of the season', I guess you could say.
To us it is a day to get together with your family and loved ones, especially those that you never see all year because they live far away, catch up with old friends, sending cards just to let someone know you thought of them.
I love shopping for presents, it's a way of showing another that you care and they mean something to you, and knowing how happy they will be to recieve it.
And who doesn't love to GET presents???
And as far as putting up a tree, well for me that is just downright fun!
Basically we celebrate christmas just like most families, except that Jesus and God don't get brought into it.
Does anyone else also do this?

Im atheist and although I do not celebrate Christmas, I have no problem celebrating it. You only live once, not gonna waste it being spiteful towards something just because its not exactly what I believe in.

Yep. As a matter of fact, your situation sounds identical to mine. My wife is a theist/deist and I'm an agnostic-atheist. We celebrate the holidays for the exact same reasons. Personally, I hate putting up the tree. That's why we bought a fiber-optic tree. The thing is like 3 pieces and goes up in like 2 minutes and no lights to string. Just plug the sucker in and voila! Pretty twinkling tree.

I do! I think that even though i don't believe in god or the actuality of christmas being holy or sacred there is something festive about the season and being with your family. Outside of the religous sense its just a great day to get together with family and appreciate everything you have. I think holidays are special because of what they mean to us personaly, not religously. Maybe for some people those are intertwined but for some of us they are two seperate things and its okay to make that distinction.

I believe that something happened that put life on Earth but I don't believe in everything that any religion teaches but I do celebrate Christmas. I basically do it for fun. I love to decorate, give and receive gifts, and of course the food. So, yes, I do pretty much the same as you.

Wow, it sounds like you have the very basics of Christmas down.
Of course, you know already, that it is better to give then receive as you ask, "who doesn't love to GET presents???" I also perceive you have a great love for your family and friends, but do you not know from whom the "spirit of the season" flows. I believe you already know this as well as you are moved to give presents to your loved ones.

May you and your family always love one another (as love is from the same source) and have a Merry Christmas.

I'm Wiccan and I celebrate Christmas with my family because my mom is an awesome cook and my siblings and I like to tell good stories and play monopoly until someone gets mad and flips the board over. Aren't the holidays great.

We Witnesses do understand a thank you to have relaxing. we don't rejoice holiday trips, yet that does no longer mean we are denied something. holiday trips have pagan backgrounds that we don't believe or have faith consisting of, Santa, the Easter Bunny, and leprechauns. don't sense sorry for her, by using fact she gets presents from the middle fairly than in simple terms by using fact somebody has to on a undeniable day. She has a loving pals and kinfolk in her congregation that love her and supply her the failings which will final a life time, by using fact they share the comparable love for Jehovah.

I'm agnostic... but I love the spirit of the holidays. I grew up in a catholic household so my traditions are decidedly catholic. I say I celebrate Christmas. I have a Christmas tree, send Christmas cards... all the bells & whistles. :)

Merry Christmas!
