And i do not understand the fear. If pple would educate them selves more, they would see what a beautiful religion it is. It saddens me so much that there are so many ignorant and insulting questions and answers here (this also goes for other religions!).
If you have nothing good to say, or are only asking a question or giving an answer to insult and hurt, you better say nothing at all!
Please, try to remember, the ppl behind the pc typing here are real living ppl, with feelings. Those feelings can be hurt!
And thanks for all the other participants here who take the time to pose serious questions and who answer seriously. You are all a big souce of knowledge to me!

The Quo'ran teaches not to kill, unless you are under attack and to stop fighting when they enemy stops. So i think it is only natural not to be a sitting duck but to fight back right?
Janey: I do not mind swimming with the sharks. Every one is entitled to an opinion. But to ask hurtful questions, or give hurtful answers is so cheap and easy! Why not respect each other, you would do so in normal life too right? It's so easy to sit behind a pc and just insult!!

Because they are spoon-fed information by the biased media and Islamophobics. Most of these people are too lazy to seek out the truth, and the rest have already come to a conclusion about Islam and pick out the bits and pieces that support their hatred while ignoring the rest.
Fact: I have NEVER been insulted by a Muslim in my entire life. They have shown me nothing but kindness, even though my religion, Buddhism, is a very different path. I have, however, been insulted by Christians on a daily basis. You know what the bible says: Worry about the plank in your own eye before worrying about the speck of dust in your brother's.

People (not ppl) fear islam because we see the effects of violence being part of the teachings. I understand that this is a smaller percentage of islams that believe and practice this, but that is what we see. We are told that violence is not taught as part of the religion, but how can it not be in some sects? If it was not being taught, how do you have terrorists doing things in the name of Allah? (I am not trying to get into religious debate, not my focus here...I think everyone should have the right to choose what they want.) Maybe if islamic people come forward and say "This is our teachings...this is what we believe..." Rather than just saying..."We do not teach violence..." more people would be more understanding. But until the violence stops and something like this happens, there will be fear and hatred of the islamic following.

the thingy is that most ppl dont really know what ISLAM really is.. they only know what the media projects... n the media is controlled by real dimwits:)
well its kinda our fault too.. we (Muslims) havent done much to spread Islam... like .. nobody gives a damn to prove the truth behind all the fake terrorism etc... everybody knows it was an insider job but a very few stand up n fight against the lies.. the rest r either too coward to speak out .. or either tooo busy in their lives ...
Bein muslims there is a big responsibility on us to show n spread the TRUE ISLAM.. n to fight agaisnt the false claims:)

Being a Muslim in a non-Muslim country is hard. I think ppl try to spread lies and misconceptions about it cuz they kno it is such a powerful religion that has enriched millions of lives. On the contrary, there are a lot of Muslims who, themselves, are losing the true essence to Islam and are confused in this world of confusion and complexity. i'd suggest go ask the reverts that how do they feel living a whole new life:) the non-Muslims will just give you some half verses of the Holy Quran or make up some filthy stories. like a lot of people say that Muslims are ordered to kill the non-Muslims.i would suggest 'em to read the whole book as half knowledge is dangerous.off the topic ..i know am sorry:) but i'd like to give an answer to those verse that these people are talking abt.Allah only ordered us to kill those who are dangerous for us e.g. if they are killing our people,spreading hatred and false stories abt Islam and insulting our religion THEN we are allowed to fight. take care y'all! n may Allah guide us all (Ameen)

Have you ever been in the dark and felt so scared that something will pop up and scare you?
Well I think that this is the reason why people are scared of Islam.
Everyone who knows nothing about Islam sees that it is a dark place and that it can hurt them, not knowing that it (Islam) is the light to this universe.
People are always afraid of what they don't know... and what is even worst is taking bits and bites from here and there and not knowing what the truth is.
All I do is try my best to show people the truth about Islam, and pray deeply that they too can see the light.

Its lack of education just like you said. But the ignorant muslims dont help either. So it is both ways. Some muslims blame america and everyone else for their problems. We need to correct ourselves before correcting others. Learn about the most imporant thing in Islam, Tauhid. Act upon it. Here are a few sites.

Ignorance is why people are so scared of Islam. And they are lazy, conceited, to read up information about it despite the fact that it is readily available for them.

because Islam is so powerful and if Muslims reunite they would be the best and most advanced culture once again.
what you see today is a struggle between two ideologies. Capitalism Vs. Islam.
back in the days it was communism Vs. capitalism. then when the soviet union collapsed Capitalism prevailed and now just like the Nazis and the communists wanted to push their ideologies on the entire world. Capitalist America is now doing the same exact thing but this time Muslims will not give in their way of life that easily.
to win this war the Capitalist media must demonize the enemy and use such propaganda to win the support of the capitalist world.
so those people who fear Islam are really victims. victims of massive brainwash.

i totally agree with ur point,speaking out in ignorance is not the right thing,..we know what media tells us,n without judging we go on fighting against it...
please whenever u read Quranic verses.read about their background...
islam gave utmost importance to rights of humanity..but islam also prohibited,sitting idle not defending ur religion,when others attack...there's a wide difference in these 2 aspects.
