Hi ya the best advise is take her to the vet I think and as she's a chihuahua she will need a scan to check for potential problems due to chihuahua's tiny size they often need c sections. In regard to the negative comments you have recieved ignore them and Oi Terrier you do not know this ladies situation for all you know she could be keeping the pups for herself so stop judging on one yahoo question so rude! there is a first time for every one even the most experienced breeder.

Was dad a Chihuahua? She should be developing her teats, you can have an ultrasound sound which will show, how many pup's she has. Was this a first time mating for mum? The last 3 weeks of her pregnancy will show more than the first 5 weeks, she will be getting bigger, and you will notice, and of course she will be heaver. You really do need to read up on her whelping stages, as it is very passable that you could loss mum if you don't no what you are looking for, and how she delivers her pups. If dad is not a chi, you could have problems? My chihuahua had pup's 6 months ago, so i have been there before. You need to know all about there weight and worming pups at 8 weeks and of course starting them on solids. You will need a warming mat for mum as we are in the winter months now, and pups usually arrive at night, you need to stay with mum about 8 days before the due date, as she can have them anytime. If you would like more help visit my 360 and email me, happy to help you, otherwise good luck. Let us no what happens.

She tied shes most likely Pregnant. It doesn't matter how long the tie was or if it was only once. I hope your ready for this. It will cost you more time and $$$$ taking care of Momma now and puppies and Momma later. Then you will make off this mixed breed of puppies. Chis are known for c-sections also. Be sure you take your dog to the Vet. Don't cheep out on this now.

Gestation is the period when the fetus (baby) develops in the mother's uterus. In dogs, gestation lasts 63 days from the time of ovulation. Because you don't know when ovulation occurred, you should expect puppies to be delivered anytime between 58 to 68 days from when the female was bred
During pregnancy, the female dog may show a change in behavior, especially in the last few weeks. As the uterus enlarges with the developing puppies, your female may become restless, seek seclusion and in the last few days, soil the house. She may shred papers, blankets or bedding in an attempt at "nest building" in the last week. During the last 2 weeks, your pet may become irritable and should be kept away from small children

I hope she was mated with another chihuahua? Chihuahuas usually do not start to show until the last 3 weeks and then they just seem to blow up like a balloon. In another week she will probably really start to get a rounder belly.

I hope you have registered with a vet in case of complications giving birth. A vet visit for a check up and ultra sound would tell you if she is in pup and the vet will also be able to keep the 'due date' free in case he is needed for an emergency ceasarian.

If her teats drop more
That she started to be more aggresssive
And she become distant when you approach her
It's nearly clear that you will have puppies

Why are you breeding your dog when you don't know the basics?
As you are obviously inexperienced, surely you've sought advice from an experienced breeder?
Or are you just doing this for the cash, and to hell with the pups welfare?
Yet another backyard breeder.
