probably when everyone owns an HD tv which will be probably in about 5 years.

As of right now, the industry analyst are saying 2009 is the deadline for the nation-wide conversion to HD. Also, I heard a rumor about a government program that is supposed provide financial help to those who cannot afford an HD tuner.

all channels are already are broadcasted in hd, when you get IO digital cable, you have to buy a special package and it costs a lot. On cable it is only available time to time on only limited channels
