Since I have started babysitting my moms dog, medium size, about 40 pounds, my cat will not come out of a specific room, wont eat or drink, and if she does, she pukes. I think it is because of the stress from a new dog in the house, but I am uncertain. I was wondering if anyone has had any similar cases with their pets. I am going to take her to the vet soon to make sure it isn't something else serious.

It's up to you to show her that bringing a dog into the house doesn't mean that you love her less.

Bring her out of the room, carrying her, talking to her softly the whole time. Sit down with her on your lap, and introduce the dog to her slowly.

They probably won't get along at all for a couple of weeks. But if you MAKE her socialize with you outside of that specific room, then she will finally get the idea that the dog isn't there to usurp your affection, nor that she is going to get eaten by it.

I had one cat that hated moving. Every time I moved, I had to go looking for her two days later in whatever small corner she had secreted herself, and start spoonfeeding her kitty food gruel because she had stopped eating. You'll probably want to do this as well. Mix regular canned cat food with an equal amount of water, into a thin paste. Put it in a bowl within easy reach, with a teaspoon in it. Wrap kitty in a towel (especially if she has claws--cause she sure is going to want to USE them), then lay her down so that you can pry her jaws open with your left hand, while you spoon the food in with your right. It usually takes a day of spoonfeeding every two hours for her to get the idea and start eating on her own. Continue with the watered down food for a couple of days, and then switch back to her regular food when she is eating properly again.

Once you have her socializing with the dog, she is going to find out that she can have a LOT of fun terrorizing it. And then it will be very entertaining for you (and usually the dog as well--I have never seen a dog that didn't enjoy chasing a cat just for fun).

The cat is definitely stressed out. You may want to put the dog somewhere else in the house for a little while so your cat can come out and not worry about the dog. You could also leave her food/water dish in the specific room that she seems to stay in. If that doesn't work, bring her to the vet. He may have some suggestions.

The cat is stressed by the dogs. Put her food, water and litter box in the room where she hides.

Try to introduce her to the dogs slowly and the dogs to her. Just make sure the dogs are quite and calm before you try to introduce them. That will help. If anything else take her to the vet.

When I brought my cat home for the first time my dog didn't know what to think. It took them awhile and now they sleep in the same bed!

The cat is being threatened, dogs and cats are known enemies and dogs have been known to eat cats
Why dont u just put the cat outdoors to roam to find cat friends.
Put dog outside and see how they both act.
