You shouldn't store asparagus for a long time, not more than two or three days. The fresher it is, the better it tastes. For those few days, keep the asparagus cool and, most important, the ends always moist (you can wrap the bunch of asparagus in a moist towel). Hard ends should be cut off about 1 cm, so they can better take in the water.
It is a bit like having a flower in a vase.

Do you have green asparagus or white asparagus? Yes, white asparagus, a lot of people enjoy this as it is grown underground and therefore, has no chlorophyll in it. Why I ask is because the ways to store each are different. So, to make it easy, lets deal with green asparagus. Put in standing up in a small dish which has a little water in it and cover with a small bag.

Soak, dry and cut off the ends. Search for any damaged or rotten parts. Wrap it in a towel and place in the refrigerator. Do not leave out bare to wilt. Do not freeze. Do not place in a bag.

I like asparagus tips served with hard-boiled eggs, sliced, and lemon slices around a baked rainbow trout in orange and lemon sauce.

Take the remainder and add it to cream of celery soup with some scallops and onion. Add some vinegar and garlic powder to taste. Boil down and thicken with butter and flour. Serve with a green salad and cheese toast.

I saw it on the Food Network once. You should store it upright with the bottom in water. It's supposed to keep it fresher longer. I think it was Emeril that I was watching...
