On the start menu there is a button labeled "Set program access and defaults" click on that When that opens you'll want to click on "custom" from there you will be able to choose the default program for playing mp3 tunes as well as web browsing,e-mail, and instant messaging

1. Right click on one of your MP3s.
2. Select Open With from the list
3. Select Choose Program
4. Select Windows Media Player
5. Check the box that says to always use this program
6. Click OK.

Hope this helps.

find the icon for any mp3 file that you have. then right click on it and go to properties. you will then see an area that says OPEN WITH. Click that and then select Windows Media. Then click ok. All your MP3 fils will now open in Windows Media.

It may be different depending on your version of media player but, open media player, go to the tools menu, click on options. Then choose the "file types" tab and put a check next to MP3 and any other file types you would like media player to play by default. hen click OK.
