"Answers for Advantages and Disadvantages, QUESTION FIVE, worksheet one:

Advantages for British army: Most soldiers were professional. They had the best training, experienced officers, and new weapons. They used hired soldiers, the Hessians, to fight on their side. They had many Native American allies. They had 50,000 soldiers.
Disadvantages for British army: The war was 3,000 miles away. They had trouble getting supplies across the ocean. Britain had problems with other countries at home.
Advantages for the Continental army: The war was fought on their land. Some of the soldiers had fought on the frontier and in the French and Indian War. They fought the way the Native Americans did, by hiding and surprising the enemy. Washington was a good general and made rules for them. In the middle of the war, other European countries, such as France and Spain, joined the side of the Continental army.
Disadvantages of the Continental army: They ran out of bullets at the Battle of Bunker Hill. They had no uniforms and their guns were flintlock muskets, which didn't shoot very far. Some had no guns at all and carried spears and axes. They had little money and not much training. They only had about 10,000 soldiers. When harvest time came, some of the Continental soldiers had to go home to their farms...."
