I gave him a bath this morning and he was fine but just a few hours later my husband asked me what happened that he has a big lump on his back. It's golf-ball sized...feels pretty hard and appeared suddenly. He doesn't seem to mind it much or even notice it is there when touched. I did a google search and found a similar post here from another user with a similar problem w/her dog.
Moose just received his 2nd vaccination this past Tues. (4 days ago)..AND he was microchipped. Could it be a reaction? Anyone who has experienced this, I would love to hear from you. If the bump has not receded, I'll be taking him to the vet on Monday.

...One more thing, the bump is located near the same area where he was vaccinated.

I work at a vet clinic, and yes, it could definitely be a reaction to the vaccine. There is usually a bump there after the vaccines, but it is only a pea sized bumb, and should Not be the size of a golf ball. And they also get microchipped between the shoulder blades. I have never seen an animal react to this, but i suppose it is possible. I think taking him to the vet is the best thing to do. Until then, just keep an eye on it, and let your vet know if it changes at all over the weekend. Good Luck, you are good pet owners.

Animals sometimes do develop injection site reactions after they are vaccinated. I would just keep an eye on it. Measure it so that you can tell if it is getting bigger. If it gets bigger, becomes painful, or begins oozing, take your puppy back to the vet. Having worked in a veterinary hospital, I have seen this happen before and the vet usually doesn't do anything about it. You can call your vet and ask about a benedryl dose if you're worried.

It could be a reaction to the vaccination or the chip, however, I have never seen one golf ball size. I would just give your vet a call today and see what he/she says about it. Good Luck.

They can get a bump from the shot, but have not seen one the size of a golfball. It maybe a reaction to the microchip. Would be best to have it checked by a vet.

I would go ahead and call a 24 hour vet to be sure he doesn't need seen sooner. I have never heard of this happening with microchipping but maybe if it wasn't placed right? I'm not sure, I'd call a vet to be safe. Good luck!

Sounds like an allergic reaction, put ice on the lump, fill an empty drink bottle and freeze and wrap on dog lump.
It should go down without doc.
Give dog a dose of benedrly if possible
