One can be brain-dead and still have a sinus rhythm. Another can have brain waves without heartbeat. These are clinical death. These two scenerios are the ones where the family decides whether to "pull the plug". You can even buy life insurance that covers both of these.
Biological death occurs when there is no more activity in the brain or the heart. Both have to stop before it is deemed biological.

Clinically dead means you are not breathing however you have brain activity. Biological dead means you have no brain activity, and not breathing

Clinically dead: heart & breathing stopped.
Biologically dead: in addition to above, brain function stopped, soul has left body and body cannot be revived.
