What can I use in place of it? I'm baking cookies and I don't have this one ingredient! I know the use of it, I just need help in finding something similar.

Cream of tartar is an acidic white powder scraped from the inside of wine barrels. Adds creaminess to candy and frosting. Eggs whites get higher volume and stability with it. It is also added to some baking powders.

In liquids o with egg whites substitute:

1 tsp cream of tartar = 1 Tbs distilled vinegar or lemon juice

For baking, use just any other baking powder as per package instructions. If you don't have any, sift flour to make it more airy. If you don't have any, ignore it. The dough will be heavier but still very good.
