She was actually a virgin when she was a teenager, unlike so many girls today. She obeyed the Lord, just like we should. Another great example was Joseph her husband, who also obeyed God on numerous occasions. But they are right because you need to imitate christ more than anything.

The only thing of Mary that will make you a better Christian is to be faithful and obedient to God. Her faith and acceptance of God's will brought Jesus into humanity and it is Jesus that is our Saviour. We would all be better Christians if we imitated Jesus. As far as what I like about Mary....I am not really sure. She was a good and obediant daughter of the Lord and the mother of our Lord and Saviour. That alone makes her likeable. Learning to be a better Christian comes from learning the teachings of the Bible, becoming involved in your church and community, forgiving even when you don't want to and treating people with understanding and as you would like to be treated. Hope this helped.

1. You cannot be a better Christian by imitating Mary. She was merely a woman chosen to give birth to Christ. But you can be a more spiritual Christian by reading His Word and praying to Him.

2. Why should you focus on Mary instead of Christ Jesus? Isn't He the focus? Not Mary.

Mary was very patient, understanding, obedient, deeply devoted, had great faith, unquestioning love, and wonderful woman to be chosen by God to be the earthly mother of his Son Jesus.

ALL of the above. Plus we are no where in the Bible told to worship Mary, and Mary does not ask or even hint at wanting to be worshipped.

Being HUMBLE is a very hard thing to do.

Mary was, even as the Mother of Jesus and I admire her but God tells us to worship him and to serve only him.
Jesus says no man cometh unto the Father but by him

Ummm you've missed the point - you don't become a better CHRISTian by imitating Mary - look at the name CHRISTian - the clue is in the first 6 letters!

Romans 6:
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

Romans 15:
5 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:

What I like about Mary:

She had a great faith
She praised God
She recognised who she was compared to her Son

Why would you imitate the qualities of Mary to become a better Christian? I thought it was about acting like Christ.

I like the fact that the Catholic version of Mary is derived from Pagan Goddess theorems. LOL

We are not to be imitating the qualities of Mary, but walk in the footsteps and path of Jesus. To be a Christian is to accept Jesus as your personal Savior, and to be Christ like in how you live and be a witness of the message of God with others. Mary has nothing to do with it. She served her purpose and gave birth to Jesus, who is the son of God and God shall reward her for that according to his perfect will and time.

Where in the bible does it tell us to serve mary? No where does the bible say that.

This is what God says...

John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

It did not say that we are to believeth on Mary. It clearly says the son which is Jesus.
