Or maybe you felt like you were not good enough for anyone and now since someone likes you, you like them. That happened to my friend but now they broke up.

the answer is yes. People want other people to validate and like them. Like in the Bible it says, we love him because he first loved us. I had a friend that turned on me because I was busy and could not help her do something. What she wanted was for me to think she was worthwhile. This was child like on her part, because she was selfish and did not ask if I was available, but the lesson is the same. People will not care what you know until they know you care.
