Apparently, 59% of Americans believe in the actual Devil and the actual rapture and the actual end of the world.
Simple question...Why?

OK folks - as a Brit, I want to say - This was NOT posted to draw out stereotypes of Americans. I'm seriously interested to understand why people believe these things are true. You don't have to be an American to answer this, but if I can get some answers from people who believe in it, it might help me understand. Thanks folks.

Simple ! America has evolved in isolation. Whilst old Europe was developing Philosophy the Arts and Sciences, and throwing off the shackles of Rome, America stewed in its own internal world. Still containing the primitive religious influences of "settler culture", many American(USA) states today display the same `Bible truth` society they started with. All the great thinkers were/are European, and this has amassed a vast European intellectual history. America has had little exposure to this, and responses to postings on this board often display a cultural gulf between Old Europe, and very inward Young America.

Most Christians believe in the Devil and the end of the world or when Jesus returns. The Rapture is an American idea taken out of the Bible and misconstrued.

the parents are brainwashed then thay brainwash the kids the schools and the goverment keep on dowing it it on t.v the church runs the goverment and the people of the usa not the politions
