they all hate it- they just have to get used to it.

You can always take her to the vet or groomer to do it for you if she is so difficult. I work at a vet clinic and there are a lot of people who can't trim their dogs nails on their own. Or you could try getting your dog used to having her paws touched. When you are rubbing her belly start slowly touching her paws too. Or when she is tired and just laying down try getting her used to having her paw handled. The idea is to hopefully get her comfortable enough to let you trim her nails on your own. But this will take a LONG time. And make sure not to cut the quick and make her nail bleed, because it does hurt. A lot of times this still doesn't work, and the dog still need to get there nails trimmed professionally, but it is still worth a try. Good Luck, i hope this helps.

Try giving her a treat bone, the solid ones. That's what I do with my puppy and it keeps her so preoccupied laying on my lap that she doesn't notice me doing it. If she does, she only looks briefly then gets back to the bone. You could also take her to PatSmart or another groomer to have it done but you have to stay diligent. A dog's nails getting too long is very dangerous!

I'm not sure what ideas you've tried, but I lay a toy or treats just out of reach of my dog's face. She is busy trying to reach them. A kong filled with peanut butter also works for me, as it keeps my dog busy for a while. Otherwise, if possible, try to have someone else help you by either distracting the dog, or helping hold the dog while you trim.

Do NOT cut even near the pink part of her nails, that is where the blood circulates. You could also take them to a proffesional and get her declawed which doesn't hurt at all. Dogs just get that way because they sometimes don't trust you.

I have the same problem with my dog but he is a 100 lbs Lab. I tried everything known to man and every training techinque. They do not work, once they get it in thier heads forget. I take my Lab to the vet, they do it no problem with little to no stress to him.

I take all of my dogs to the vet and what I have noticed is that they do not have an emotional bond to them so they expedite nail cutting in no time.
you may ask your vet's techs what their secret is; I am too afraid that I will cut them too short.
