31 is not to late to consider being a pilot no way. Go for it lots of luck. I know of a 58 year old man going into the priesthood. And there is a 40 year old that just entered the police academy here in my city he is even a grandfather. Our fire department has about 6 over the age of 30 and they go all out.

I believe as a noob in the military that may be too old for some jobs, but it has been 10 years for me out of service to know for sure. It is not like mach 3 and upside down in a 747 is going to happen, 31 in the real world is not old. - go for it!

Hi, it depends. If you are looking for sponsorship it will be quite difficult. Check out the airleague and CTC wings and also GAPAN on the internet for age restrictions. If you are heading for just a PPL then go for it. If you are self funding an ATPL you'll be fine as long as you have about £50-70,000 but I would reccommend the above organisations as they have a wealth of information and may help you to persue your ambitions as they are doing with me. Best of luck and I sincerely hope you make it.

Age-wise, not too late.
However, know what you are getting in to. Look at the industry.
Ask this question to long time professional pilots (if that is what you are considering) and ask about quality of life issues. Ask how they view the TREND of QOL, pay, retirement and work rules.
Then proceed accordingly.

The old adage "you can't teach an old dog new tricks is certainly not true. However if you are thinking of taking to the skies you will need an aeroplane not a ladder and you need to be A1 fit.
