if you believe in God, his prophets and in Heaven and Hell, will you still go to Hell if you commit suicide?
i've never had suicide thoughts as much as i have now. i don't even know why i posted the question on this board. maybe to run away from so much stress that is killing me right now. i think about the people in other countries, some of whom don't even have 1/10 of what i have in my life yet they are happy. i really envy them. i'm so useless. i've let everybody down including my family. i don't want to get to the story. they still don't know what's happening to me and i won't be the one who tells them. i love them so much, i don't want to see them sad. i hope they forget about me. i'm living in Canada as an international student, haven't seen them for 3 years now. i was their hope and i blew it. i'm a good for nothing student. i will do one thing right in my life.

please just answer my question, if you believe in God, will you still go to hell if you commit suicide?

Well... do you think if God existed such serious question would remain a mystery? I don't think so. I mean everybody believes in Gravity and everybody knows that if you jump up a cliff you are dead forever!

You remind me so much of myself. You sound like a muslim to me. I am an international student too but in the USA. My parents live in the middle east. It has been since last summer that I totally lost my faith, but it happened all gradually. No one ever told me to think about my faith. I believe if there is something so serious such as Hell, there had to be a very strong evidence for everything that is "Haram" and "Halal". You can't just die and wake up to find yourself in Hell for following the wrong religion! There had to be some strong evidence for too God, and that all evidence supports one and only religion :) mine! But as I read more and did my research. I read about Islam from the critical point of view and compared it with what I had learned when I was a kid. At college I also took History and Biology. I really didn't see anything special about my religion. Not any religion in fact. I really didn't bother that much until I found that I was putting so much trust on something with too little evidence.

Anyhow. About committing suicide. I also thought about doing that after I had this feeling that life had no purpose, and it would be even worse If I made my own purpose and it failed too! But I started to think about it in a different way. You probably as many people do, have a plan, going to college, getting a job, getting married and raising a family..etc. But once your plan is totally off track that there is no way back, then all you have to do is make a different plan! You still got your healthy body and a smart brain. If you are ready to totally end your life, why is it so hard then to think about starting a new one. I know when you reach such stage its hard to think of anything, but if you do you can get a whole new life, maybe not as shiny as the one you dreamed of, but its better than nothing at all. Hell is a good way to scary you from committing suicide but I really don't like to lie. You can just start a new life. Forget about everything. Forget about your parents, your family and start thinking about yourself as single person. You probably know what it takes to rent a place to live, and get a minimum wage job. Some people just live that way. You had so much bigger dreams, but maybe all you need to do is lower them a little, instead of throwing it all. But of course you can do much better than minimum wage job.... and that's the point. You are capable of having a good life, but it doesn't have to be that perfect. You probably fu*ked up at college but that only means you need to lower your dreams a little. Forget about your parents and take them out of your life because I know they are the reason why you might kill yourself. At least I would. I went through all my love just to make them proud and happy.... to repay them for all the love and support they gave me. But at some point its better for you and them to separate and for you do what you want. What I am saying is some how true because its better for them to know your alive having hard time alone, then knowing that you are gone forever...probably burning in hell too!

For now you either straighten it up, forget the past and start doing well in college, or just leave it and do what you want. You can still earn a good living out of a simple job, that will be better than having the engineer dream kill you! There are millions of other options but this is just to give you a hint that there is at least one way out!

Last thing: I am sure there is a way to do better while at the same time satisfying your parents, after all they love you so much. Never tell them you thought about "suicide" but its definitely worth telling them that you are having hard time with life. Just never say the word.... you can tell them all the words for the definition of suicide, so they can absorb it gradually! I personally think If I told my parents I want to committee suicide, they going to kill me (figuratively of course), its going to turn all against you and you will be seen as a screwed up kid who needs so lessons than a victim of stress who needs help!

I try not to judge anyone. It is clear that you cannot ask forgiveness for any sin that you have not committed. You cannont ask for forgiveness for suicide because the sin must be committed before you can get forgiveness. I will say that God made you and your life. He is not looking down from Heaven and calling you a failure. That is why He sent His Son. What ever it is that you feel is so bad, you can ask for forgiveness and be forgiven.Ask God to come into your heart and give you His peace and joy. He can give you joy unspeakable no matter what is going on around you. I'll bet that no matter what you think of yourself right now. When faced with what ever you've done and not being able to see or talk to you again, your family will forget about what ever you've done. They probably would be left with thoughts of 'what ifs' and 'if I had only knowns'. Is that really fair to them? I have done some things in my life that I thought we soooo bad and that my family would be ashamed and disconnect with me. But you know, those very things have eventually turned out to be some of the very things that they are most proud of me for. You can't play God with your life. He made you and He did not make a mistake. Let's put is this way, you may and you may not be forgiven for committing suicide but are you ready to gamble with where you will spend your eternity for it. E'mail me anytime. God loves you and so do I. May God Bless

Since you are considering suicide you need to get a grip on your mind/emotions. How does the mind work?

1. You think of the desired thing.
2. Your attachment for it deepens.
3. Your desire to have it increases.
4. The obstacles to getting it loom larger.
5. Your frustration mushrooms.
6. Your hope evaporates.
7. You are left with hopelessness and hope against hope.
8. Your eating gets affected.
9. You lose weight.
10. Your mental composure get dimented.
11. You lose sleep.
12. You become unclean in your habits.
13. You pray for death, but it doesnt come.
14. You contemplate takng your own life.
15. You kill yourself.
16. Your life is wasted.
17. You suffer a worse condition in your next life.
18. You still dont get the thing.

Stop thinking of it.

Your attachment will lessen.

Your desire will abate.

The obstacles will shrink (and maybe go away on their own).

Your frustration melts away.

Your hope for a better way of life grows moment by moment.

You enjoy nice meals again.

You start looking better.

You are happier.

Your get good sleep at night.

You take care of yourself.

You count your blessings and embrace life.

You make your contribution to society.

You live a worthwhile life.

Your next life is better.

You might still get the thing!

When your emotions get the better of you and throw you into a hellish condition, then you need to use your intelligence to analyze the situation and pull yourself out.

You will do it.

Let me know how it turns out.

Hope this helps.

No, the the idea of hell that most religious teach is not true. The literal translation of it is the grave. When you die your dead that's it, nothing more. But suicide shows can that you don't have any respect for the life that God gave you. We should view our like as a gift from God and treat it as such. Whatever problems you are going through, the Bible has all the answers to help you. Study the Bible, earnestly seek for the truth and ask God for help.

No one ever knows for sure who is going to go to Heaven or Hell. You're a student? Why should you be so upset anyway, everything seems so serious when you're a student, but its just because you think you need to be more social or get better grades or something like that. Being a student isn't supposed to be so oppressive. I bet if you'de just look around, you'de see the situation wasn't so grim. Don't you understand that the people who love you would rather they die than you. Killing yourself is like lashing out at them. To them, if you kill yourself, they are the failure, not you. Why is this important? Because you're not in Hell now, why would you tempt God to send you there?

God loves you, I love you, and your family loves you. Don't tempt God.

We have all heard or been thought that there is one sin that man will not be forgiven. And there are many different beliefs, as to what this unpardonable sin.
Oftentimes when studying the scripture. I find there is more being said than what our human minds can comprehend or interpret. Therefore, I believe God, on a deeper level expects us to look a little deeper!
Jesus himself said…. Search the scriptures…. And in another place… For the Kingdom of heaven is like a man looking or searching for treasures in a field.
The studying of scriptures is just that! It’s like a treasure hunt.
And that treasures of which one is looking for, is not just laying out there. You have to look for it! When it comes to treasure hunting; Some even go so far as to purchase metal detectors to help them in their searches.
And, every Born Again, Blood Washed, and Spirit Baptized believer has his own personal metal detector. The Holy Spirit!
However, before going directly into the subject. We will first, look at the subject of sin.
For, with the exception of Jesus Christ, every human that has ever existed was, or is, a sinner.
There are two types of Sinners.
1. The Forgiven Sinner
2. The Un-forgiven Sinner
The very best Christians are all still sinners because they are all still very much human. For that sinful nature we inherited from our parents – Adam and Eve, still exists in our beings. And claiming to be without sin, is, a sin, itself!

When we use the word "sin" many people have very different ideas about what sin actually is. Most people think of sin only as committing very evil crimes. Others don't use the word sin when talking about their own deficiencies, but instead refer to their sins as "mistakes".
What is Sin?
Sin, simple put is "actions" by which we humans rebel against God. There are sins of commission and sins of omission. Sin in the Old Testament was committed in the transgression or violation of God’s law.
In the New Testament sin is view more subjective than objective, in the life of Jesus. For he taught that sin is a condition of the heart. He traced sin directly to the inner motives stating that the sinful thought leading to the overt act is the real sin.

The outward deed is actually the fruit of sin.

For sin is a condition and not an action. Remember the action of sin is the "fruit" of the sinful condition or nature of the human body.
The seed that produces the "fruit" of sin was planted in Adam and was passed on.

There is one sin that will not be forgiven, in this world, or the world to come.
Some, take this Unpardonable sin to be the act of committing Suicide! However, the Bible no where teaches this as the Unpardonable sin.
It is true that when a person "believer or non believer" commits this crime, under our Judicial Law. They can never seek forgiveness from God!
However, if the person is an unsaved person, they are already doomed for the judgment of hell, to await the Great White Throne Judgment.
Other words; They were still living in the sinful nature or condition, that dooms us to hell! So, it was not the act of committing suicide that put them there!

But, for the believer - Remeber the Blood of Christ covers "All" sin! The past, the present and the future. When we sin, we seek forgiveness, because it takes us out of fellowship with God. But, it doesnt take away Salvation.

Hi,

Sorry you have been feeling that way. It's not easy to get through life these days, but if you always THINK about whats WRONG in life, then yes, you will get depressed. Or if you are an alchohalic or do any drugs that certainly makes things worse (not saying that you do those things).

I Love the Lord Jesus Christ, He IS my Saviour, and the "Lifter up, of my head". Here is some thoughts for you.

First if you are a Christian seek counceling from a GOLDY pastor, one who does not condone SIN.

PRAY, and ask God to help you overcome these feelings of guilt, stress, emotional or physical pain, remorse, or fear, that you are experienceing.

In my personal belief YES a person would go to hell for commiting sucide.

HERE IS WHAT GOD SAYS:

1 Corinthians 3:16
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God (your body), and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

1 Corinthians 3:17
If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
HERE WHAT GOD SAY TO DO EVEN IN THE FACE OF DEFEAT:

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Remember: While you are ALIVE there is always HOPE, no matter what you feel or think, but after you are dead there is no more hope. So, LIVE, Choose LIFE, don't condemn yourself........it is NOT an honrable or healthy character trait.

Finaly:
Psalm 147:3
He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

I am not judgeing you, just wanna try to give you some solid ground to step on. But all in all noone can stop you from hurting yourself "emotionaly", or "Physically", so you have to remind YOURSELF, GOD made you, and you are of great VALUE!!!! He sent His Son Lord Jesus Christ to DIE for you, so that you would not suffer eternal damnation.....accept His free gift of Love, and repent of all sins includeing those thoughts of suicide bro. Believe; there is 2-3 level of trust and believe. What is your level? Believe; 1st level is fundamental which is believe a story book and later on forget it. When you see another story more fun and reasonable, you give up the previous one. 2nd level is ; You trust your brother or parent and lending money to them then they did not pay you back. The 2nd and 3rd and 4th and 5th and you do not lend them money again. 3rd level; You trust and believe it is true and reality. You follow his step even he walk out the cliffs and you can see underside the snakes and dragon are there and you still walk out the cliffs.
The level 3 is not a superinsitution, it must though the reading, understanding, compare and experient so that you are surely what is it.
Do you still believe your god?
The hollyman according to god idea to write down the rule that is not commit suicide which is going to hell. Why the believe is not including the rule of not commit suicide? You are not even in level 2, sorry! I speak too directly.

If you are born of God, nothing you can do can change the fact that Christ has made you righteous in Him.

Sometimes the tricks of the enemy has tricked born of God Christians to take their own life. Sad that when they go to heaven Jesus can't give them the rewards, because they killed their own body & that body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. This grieves the Holy Spirit.

Believing there is a God doesn't save anyone (because the devil also knows so). The question is if you have confessed Jesus Christ Lord of your life and believed in your heart He shed His own blood for the remission of your sins and rose from the dead for your justification. Who is He who overcomes the World? He who is born of God. What is our victory? Our faith in Christ.

If you have been born of God, you will go to heaven. But committing suicide would rob you of the many gifts & rewards God wants to give you.

Also, you need to know your enemy. He is the one who plants suicide thinking in your head. They are all lies. Replace Gods Love & Truth over the lies.

What does God tell you? Check out http://FathersLoveLetter.com This is scriptural and truth. It is how the Father God loves you truly.

My Cousin committed suicide 1+yrs ago. I know he is in heaven because he was born again as a young person. I have had assurance in my heart he is in heaven. The answer I gave you is what I believe is true as I searched God for answers on the salvation of my Cousin right after he died. God answered me.

First thing you need to go a psychiatrist to get medicine for your suicidal thoughts. it is just pills that you take and then get better. i think you are having a type of depression (home sickness).
Second, once you get better, i have many easy steps to get you really find your way, just send me email once you start your medication.
you will definitely go to hell if you commit suicide. nothing in this life deserve to do what you are thinking of. if this makes you happy, i had same your situation before, and i passed over it.
