It's nice, but I think it's a bit overpriced. He might never guess how much it costs and never touch it again. I've gotten products like that on a couple of occasions, and I barely used them at all (I think most of them are still in the cabinet). I think you could probably find something good for $100 on one of these websites (and after you have the idea, you can comparison shop all over the Internet):

The last two are kind of expensive, but I think you can find something in your budget range. Oh yeah . . . for about $100 you can get him a really neat toy from here:

They sound hyped up on the website, but they're not. So far, I've bought three of them. They're really neat! Great exercise too. Check out some of the videos (the ad videos and the world record videos). Have a nice day!
