I know 'asian' can be quite a range of different skin tones and looks, but I have medium-lenth straight (naturally black) layered hair and olive skin. My face is quite round (if that helps, lol), I have dark eyes (i'm also typically, short) and I'm looking for a new hair colour that will go with my skin colour. I don't want it to look too drastic but I want a definite new look. I really want it to look not too over-the-top and unnatural - so I think it's very much safe to say that keeping it dark is good and I should go for lighter highlights (red?). What do you think? Also, my hair is naturally wavy and I just had my hair permanently straightened (today) I know that I should not wash it for atleast 3 days, but how long until I can colour?

Thanks all repliers!

Most Aisians I know look best with black hair because they have medium brown skin. They can go for blonde, but I think it looks unnatural.

In my opinion I love dark hair with like lighter brown highlights! I think that is really adorable without going to over the top!!! I would probably wait like a week before i highlight it!!

I think the waiting period before coloring after straightening is 2 -3 weeks. I think going with the red is a good idea, but make it highlights and not completely red.

Since you don't know what color to give yourself try a semi permanent hair color. They wash out in about 4-6 weeks and after that you can continue to have fun trying different colors until you find the one that's best for you, then you dye it permanently.

Good Luck

If you are trying to look casual I wouldn't dye all of your hair i would but in some brown highlights... if you want to be a little more VIBRANT you cant try dirty blonde or a autumn red

I would go with highlights, but double processing your will overly dry your hair out. You should wait at least two weeks to do anything to your hair. This will give the hair cuticle a chance to repair itself.
