First of all, before you sit there and bash someone with one of the most dangerous and stressful jobs in the world, maybe you should consider something.... Police officers are no different than you. They have families, feelings, and a job to do. I don't think you would like someone to ridicule you for the job you do. Police officers risk their lives to keep us safe every day and all you can do is sit there and say how pathetic they are?! Response times vary depending on department size and how busy they are. If it's a non emergency, they might not get there right away because they're taking care of more pressing issues. You should do a ride-along with your local PD to see the stuff officers go through every day, maybe you and all the other people posting crap about cops will change you/their mind(s) if you all did that.....I did an Internship with my local PD and it totally opened my eyes to the world of law enforcement and i will never speak badly of a police officer again!

I'm sorry that your experiences with police have not been positive. The police in my state are generally excellent, but at the end of the day they are human and as such there will be bad, lazy or dishonest police - as there are bad, lazy or dishonest paramedics, electricians, teachers, etc, etc.
It's the individual that's bad - not the profession.
If you have a grievance with any public official, follow the complaint through - they have more to fear from you if the complaint is genuine and in reality their decent colleagues will be pleased to see the back of them.
Quite how you know that an offender breaking into your house was or wasn't on drugs or alcohol is beyond me.
And probably beyond the officer taking the call...
If the break in is over and done with and the offender long gone then you are not really a response priority.

Don't blame the police officers. The reason that they sometimes can't get to a call quickly, is because there's only so many cops working on any given shift. My husband's a police officer, and in our town (population over 33000) there might be only 4 officers on the road and one supervisor on a given evening. Some nights are relatively quiet, and the officers aren't scrambling from call to call, and some nights they have so many calls that they need to call in officers from other towns for help. When this happens, then they need to prioritize the calls. The choking baby is going to get their attention before your report that someone stole your car stereo. On the quieter nights, they spend what you would consider down time filling out pages and pages of paperwork for every little thing that they do. Say all of the mailboxes on your street get smashed. The officers need to fill out a separate incident report for each and every mailbox. They're up to their necks in paperwork. So when you see a police car sitting in a parking lot, and you think they're doing nothing, you're wrong. They're usually working on paperwork.

i'm no longer acquainted with Gene Hunt, so i'm off to Google him. vast difference between Police in the present day and at the same time as i develop right into a baby. My mothers and fathers used the police and detention center as a bribe to make me do what I could. We used to have a beat bobby who may walk previous a various cases of the day. If I hadn't tidied my room, my human beings may threaten to ask "Bobby" in to have a glance and take me to detention center. and that i presumed it, and that i develop into truly petrified of the police. And so i have continuously respected the police. Now the police are scared human beings. And thats incorrect. Police must be able to dish out a clip around the ear, and get the baton out at the same time as necessary. i'd opt for to work out more beneficial use of tear gas too. operating contained in the Civil service (Tax), I in many cases hear human beings criticising the activity that me and my colleagues do. it truly isn't any longer my fault that the authorities has a f*cked up tax regime, we are merely right here to get on with the activity interior the guidelines that Parliament dictate. and that i'm particular its the same for the police. There are some sturdy Police adult men and females in this usa, and after I've necessary them, they have served me properly. yet i realize there are undesirable coppers too. i does no longer get off the mattress in a morning for the money your uncomplicated copper takes abode. yet final analysis, its time reachable potential decrease back to the police. Its time to make criminals more beneficial fearful about them.

You have to realize what police go through every day. Sometimes it takes a while to get to another call. ecspecially if your the only officer on patrol. They have a lot of people to serve just because you need them doesn't mean they can magically appear at your doorstep. One of my co-workers just got stuck by a hypodermic needle the other day and now will be going through HIV testing for a very long time. Just to protect people like you. You don't like what they do? Then why don't you get off YOUR butt and be SUPER COP.

Some of them may be pathetic, some criminal but there are also dedicated professionals, my brother-in-law was one of them.
I think it sad that you choose to generalize (like those people who say all males are violent or all teens are lazy or all women are untrustworthy). Generalizations are often far from being true.

Life is not like TV. Police are threatened all the time and could easily get killed if not careful.
