it actually depends on his personality, not his intelligence. i'd rather have an average-IQ kid with a nice, attentive, polite personality than a super genius who wrecks the house, smart-alecks back every time i tell him to do chores, and acts arrogant in school, making the other kids feel bad. but then again, i'm only 13.

everyone is different, and the world just has to accept and embrace the differences. I mean, if everyone was smart, no one would want jobs like working in customoer service(although that isn;t a bad job). They'd all want high paying, high tech, job. Smater children are what they are, if the child is smarter than the average child, envelope it, and develop it, don't discourage it. If they aren't. don't force them to get smarter. From expierence of being called "the smart kid" back in the day, lots of times it can be a pain.

Not necessarily. Smarts isn't everything. In my classroom, I see many children with intelligence and plenty of potential who don't really do much of anything. I think eventually, you'll find that perseverance, a willingness to work hard, people skills, creativity, is really the key for personal success.
I've personally met many people with intelligence who simply gave up when things didn't come easy or who felt that because they were so smart they didn't have to work as hard...then, reality hit them. My sister's a good example but I won't go there.
Things get hard...for everyone, the key is to keep trying, persevere, eventually good things will come.

Not necessarily. It is better as long as the person falls within the "upper average" range but if they are above this they start to experience adjustment problems. They can be very sensitive, get bored easily because nothing is a challenge and find it difficult to make decisions because they feel that anything is possible. They may be lonely because they find it difficult to meet people on their level and they may be often highly individualistic, insisting on pursuing their own interests.

I agree with jezzerk and 1A2B3C. In addition, the environment (eg, parenting, support & guidance) the child is brought up play an important role.

It's good that they are smart, but it doesn't mean they will behave "good" if that's what you are asking. Sometimes even smarter kids are worse.....
