I just got one of those laser pointers for the cats to chase, its funny and they seem to love it, but then after i put it away, they act all cracked out for like half an hour, like darting thier heads around like they are still looking for the dot.
Do you think this thing is going to drive them crazy or something?

Any animal that gets stressed can have bad reactions. Use the toy in moderation, and NEVER shine it in any eyes! In time your cats should learn when the play time is over and stop looking for the dot. Once you stop with this toy, maybe give them something else to keep them occupied for a while? That will get their mids off the dot and on to something more healthy. Good luck!

pet kitten is always interested in moving objects. Pet loves chasing behind moving light spot of laser pointer. It is just the reason why laser pointer is usually described as a pet toy. You can have a try of lower power laser pointer less than 5mW. Do not point it at eyes and skins of your pet.

The laser pointers are fine. I use them with my cats. At the beginning they used to look for the red light after i was done playing with them but they learn fast that you are controlling it. Now as soon as i pick up the laser pointer they come running and when i put it done they go lay down and rest. just make sure you dont over do it cause they will chase it as long as you are pointing it.

LOL No it won't drive them crazy. My cats have been playing with a laser pointer for over 4 years now and no side effects. They love it and it's a great way for them to get exercise they need!

Laser pointers are a GREAT way to exercise and stimulate your cat! The only thing you need to be careful about is to keep it from shining in their eyes (and yours!). My cats know the drawer where their laser is kept and will run up to it as soon as I open it! So have fun with your cats!

Laser pointers can damage the eys of cats or dogs and impair their vision. Try a ping pong ball. Many cats love to chase ping pong balls because of the sound and their light and easy to hit around.

Yes, as long as you never shine it in their eyes: it will burn the retina and cause damage to the eye. I also don't think they should be used by young children as the laser will damage a human eye in the same way. Making the play period shorter may cut down on the afte-effects.

Although laser pointers are fun, they are not good for anyone. Almost every laser pointer is a class three laser which emits radiation to whatever it hits and whoever is holding it especially.
This is the label on almost every laser pointer.
( Avoid Exposure laser radiation is emitted from this Aperture, DANGER RADIATION. ) Hopefully this helps , it worked for me.

Make sure that it doesn't point into their eyes. This could cause problems. Other than that, I think it is good exercise for the cat.

No, its all good. I do it to my cats and dogs as well. They just get "riled" up and are probably still looking for it, like you said. Remember, though, not to point it in their eyes!
