US studies options for increasing troops in Iraq:

Advertisement Military planners and White House budget analysts have been asked to provide President George Bush with options for increasing American forces in Iraq by 20,000 troops or more, The New York Times reported.

Citing unnamed senior Administration officials, the newspaper said the request indicates that the option of a major "surge" in troop strength is gaining ground as part of a White House strategy review. The white House expects more troops to be killed but that is OK with the military and the American people.

Discussion of increasing the number of American troops has gone on in Washington for two months as a possible way to reverse the deteriorating security situation in Baghdad, the report said. It most likely won't work but we must try anyways. Do we, in America, hear another Vietnam coming?

Yes, you hit the nail on the head, an action replay of Vietnam.
How many thousands of US. soldiers deaths will the public tolerate this time? not to mention the millions of Iraqi civilians that will have died because of this unwinnable war. The only people that will profit will be the war profiteers.

Again; another Democratic statement. Fighting/Firepower isnt the problem. Saddams troops didnt have a ton of firepower and they controled the public, what he had were numbers. These numbers would distil fear in the public so they wouldnt rise up like they are now. We needed an estmiate of 350,000-400,000 soldeirs in Iraq when we invaded to keep the peace, we have 135,000. See a little difference there?

We need more numbers, and the death rate will fall. Every sensible man , or woman, doing studies have said this. We send more men, and all of them get to come home sooner.

Meh, this is just the ratcheting up before Israel fully emerges from the nuk-ya-ler closet. By the next national election, we'll be swimming in police statism, floundering in debt, and probably drown in the innocent blood shed on all the new battlefields, at home and overseas.
