Hi there,

According to Chicagoland Tails, who cite the Columbia Animal Hospital,
alcohol is highly toxic to cats. A tablespoon of whiskey can kill a
cat, while just two teaspoons can put the poor thing into a coma.
Beer, while a bit lower in alcohol content, is just as toxic, even
though it would require a slightly larger quantity.

The staff at the Temperance Animal Hospital in Temperance MI
add that ingestion of alcohol causes liver trauma in cats - they are
unable to metabolize alcohol.

Please don't give cats beer. It's really bad for them.

Hope that helps!

Sorry but no, it is really bad for them!

Several years ago I used to put out beer traps to kill the (seemingly thousands of!) slugs in the garden I had then. My lovely cat Felicity dissappeared one night - was not in at her usual teatime and was not in by 1.00 a.m. either, needless to say I was out of my mind with worry.

Finally, at 1.30, she rolled in - almost literally. She couldn't walk straight and her breath stank of alcohol. She had been drinking the slug trap beer!

Frantically I called the emergency vet ,who said the only solution was to make sure she had plenty of water to drink and then just let her sleep it off. Poor love was very groggy for a day or so but happily lived another 10 healthy years, bless her. She never got another bevvy, tho!

It had honestly never occured to me that she would be mad enough to even taste the slug trap beer, let alone drink a whole deep saucerful (that was how much had gone when I checked).

Needless to say, after that I replaced the beer with a non-alcoholic alternative!

under no circumstances supply your cat alcohol. at the same time as i replaced into little our kin cat loved to chew on the ends of cantaloupe rinds. She also loved eating tinsel off our Christmas tree. She lived to be 19 years previous. bypass parent.

All cats have different tastes, as long as he's drinking the beer in moderation, he should be OK.

My cat likes mint tea, eggs, pasta, and honey!

That's awesome. We have a big Irish Terrier that drinks beer. It gets all over her beard. And then she has beer breath! Gotta love dogs.

I dont think it will hurt him.Just dont let him drink too much, you would have a drunk kitty on your hands. That is a first for me.I have had several friends who had dogs who drank beer but never a cat.I have one friend who had two new kittens and we were trying to think of names for them, when one jumped up on the table and licked my michelob light bottle,so we named him "mick".The other one came up on my friends side and licked his budweiser can,so we called him "bud".True story.
