For the past few days, our cat has become sick, she is VERY lathargic, only sleeping, or laying down, seems very weak when she does try to walk around, and looks sick just by the look of her face. We don't think she is eating as much, although we haven't been home much and we have another cat, so it's hard to tell. She hasn't thrown up, and there are no other symptoms. What could be going on, someone who has real experience or is a vet please! Thanks!

Of course we need to take her to the vet, and I wish we could, but nowhere is open until monday and the emergency hospital is completely out of reach money wise.

Please take her to the vet. My 15 year old cat just died from heartworm. I didn't even know cats could get it.

Anytime an animal is lethrgic like this they really need to see a vet. There are so many things that can cause this behavior from just a simple virus to poisoning of some sort (though vomiting can go along with that, it doesn't always) She might not be getting enough fluids in and if she becomes dehydrated, she could easily go into organ failure and die. Until you can get her in, to ensure she's getting fluids, use a medicine syringe or dropper and fill it with cool water. Put it towards the back of her throat and squirt upwards so you don't choke her. This way you know she is at least getting fluids. You never know, just hydrating her good could do the trick. You could also offer her some tuna by hand and see if she'll take it. Don't give her too much water or food at one time. A couple droppers full of water every 20-30 minutes should be good until you see a change then you can cut back. Good luck, I hope she's feeling better fast!

The number of things that could be wrong with your cat would fill this whole page. Not even a veterinarian reading your description could make a diagnosis. Veterinarians cannot even legally make diagnoses over the phone. The description you provided is very concerning. A few more common causes of the symptoms you described are kidney disease, diabetes, cancer, abscess or other infection, blood clots, severe arthritis, foreign body or toxicity - to name a few. A thorough physical exam with radiographs (x-rays) and full blood-panel would be a good start. Sometimes just these can give the doctor a tentative diagnosis and allow him/her to start treatment. Do not delay even another day in getting her to a doctor.

Best of luck.

as soon as you can get her to the vet. that could lead to very serious health issues. my mom had a cat for 14 yrs. and something just like that happened. she got so sick by the time we got her to the vet she had to be put down. i would seperate the two cats until you get her to the vet so you can monitor her own food intake and keep your other cat safe. if she starts to make crying noises like very long meows that can be another sign of illness. your probably ok until monday because she's not throwing up but be sure to seperate the cats. good luck!

I will tell you that if you don't take your cat to the vet soon, you will most likely not have that cat anymore.
We can all give you opinions, but you need to take your cat to the vet YESTERDAY, even then you could be too late.
It's liver could be failing, it could have leukemia, it could be a systemic infection, too many variables.
Please call right now and get your cat in w/i the hour.
