I would say about half an hour or an hour for each subject. Its best to have frequent breaks for snack time and restroom time, dinner, etc. They should begin homework early to get a good night rest early!

I don't think any kid should spend a set amount of time on homework. I mean, should I spend 80 minutes on a page of Math homework because I'm in 8th grade? lol, I wouldn't dream of it. In my experience, if somebody takes 5 minutes to do a page of homework, then they need to go back and check it, because they've probably missed something. If it takes them an hour then their mind probably isn't on it. For longer types of homework, an hour would be enough time to complete almost anything and if it isn't, then add an extra 30 minutes after a break. Take it from a 13 year old..lol

My daughter is in 5th grade and she has homework Monday through Friday. She averages doing homework 2 1/2 to 3 hours per night. That is including studying for her tests.

The general rule of thumb is ten minutes x their grade level. So, for example, if the child is in third grade: 10x3= 30 minutes maximum spent on doing homework per night.

none! Kids work hard all day and should be able to come home and play. How many adults have to bring work home? they worry about obesity levels but don't give kids enough time to go out and play. Leave homework till year 9 to get ready for VCE (or what ever the last couple of years program is called where you live)

I think you have to take into consideration that each child is different as well and what might take 10 or 20 minutes for one child could be an hour or more for another.
