The past two nights I have been having very vivid, horrific dreams. The first night, it was watching someone blow someone else's head off, and then their own. It was very, very vivid...to the point where I could see brain matter flying. Last night I had a dream that I was pregnant and someone was trying to kill me by stabbing me. There was blood everywhere, and once again, it was very disturbing. I don't know why I am having these sort of dreams, but it makes it kind of scary to go to sleep at night. Does anyone have any idea why am I having such horrifying dreams? The only thing I can decipher is that I could possibly be pregnant, so that explains part of last nights dream. The rest I don't understand. Can anyone help??

I have found that I will have vivid nightmares before a large change in my life such as moving, or when my mother went into surgery, pretty much anything that stresses me almost to my limit. I have always guessed that my mind conjures these horrors to help me cope should something bad happen with the upcoming change. Another time I have horrific dreams (and these are the worst) is when I am pregnant. Very violent, very gory, and very scary. Professionals say it is because you are trying to cope with the pregnancy and the baby and what this means to your life and the fears and other things associated with it. I have also heard that certain medications can cause bad dreams as well, so if you've started a new medication or tried a new OTC one then check those out for that being a possible side effect. I would recommend that if the dreams don't stop or get less disturbing in the next few days that you call your doc. He can do tests to make sure nothing physical is happening (you may get good news!) and may recommend you to a therapist if everything is normal. Good Luck!

Some times what you eat (consume) can cause vivid and horrific dreams. Did you drink any caffeine or alcohol 2 hours before sleeping? Did you eat a meal that was extremely spicy or excessively greasy? Determine these factors first and if you have been indulging in these items before bed, try to minimize their consumption to at least 4 hours before bed time. The human body reacts irratically to certain nerve factors, food & drink can really through your mind process off balance.

Don't fret, not all dreams indicate the obvious. You being chased might mean something else. You be running from commitment. or the realization of a bad relationship. Some one attempting to stab you could be an issue you are trying to avoid in real life. Being pregnant as well could mean that you are carrying a huge weight emotionally. Your best bet would be to find a Book of Dreams. Study this and I think you will be surprised with what you find.

First off, don't eat too much sweets before you go to bed, and if you are watching scarry movies, or even the news...stop for now..put on some love stories, and kiddie movies, and watch only fun things like that come on turner classic movies...you just sound uncertain of your future right now and imposed upon..pray to God and Jesus for strength and ask Them to take those horrible thoughts out of your head...it isn't a sin to watch fun things for a change...God bless and have the merriest of holidays

First, you have to rule out side affects of any medication you're taking. Then, dreams are the unconscious mind's way of dealing with stressors that are too difficult to resolve during our conscious state of mind. When an issue is too painful or complicated to deal with we tend to suppress it by shoving it into our mental "filing cabinet." In the sleep state, our " release valve" opens to get rid of some of the stuff we shoved in there so it manifests as these dreams. In other words, it's the brain's way of telling us to deal with these issues before the "filing cabinet" explodes.

Do you watch a lot of television before retiring? Are you worried about a sexual act ? Are you afraid you may be stabbed?
