I just have to laugh because I used to ask girls on skating dates all the time when I was in middle and high school. But, seriously, for the kind of a day out there are several things you can do:
1) Say you're the better skater (or you are both quite good). You can teach him how to dance on skates, just do that if you both know how, race, skate through each others' legs...just be creative. Don't die to show off but DO try things/tricks/dances together that are a slightly outside your comfort zone together and, when you fall, laugh about it and show you're fun not unadventurous or a bit of a princess (see #2)
2) Say he's the better skater or neither of you are really great at it yet. Try being a bit risky, much as you can without any falling being painful enough to make you complain. If you can fall and laugh and not get upset at all that's something a lot of guys will love you for. Guys often hang out with each other when they want to do hobbies they are afraid girls will sit on the sidelines for...show the right attitude and, even if some other girl around is slightly prettier and more vain (proud of being pretty), he'll think, about you: "this girl is fun, so what if that other girl is pretty she's not the kind of person I can take into my life like this". And you can crack jokes and, say if you're both terrible, fall on top of each other (not hard, of course) it can be flirty if you do it well.
The point: he likely wants to see how you fit into a guy's lifestyle and, if you show him how fun, happy, and unembarrassed you are, it does not matter that much if you're a great skater or a great talker so don't worry about that.

Hi there,
Ice skating sounds like good fun and a very original venue for a date. Even if you or him can't skate, you can still have a laugh about it.Try not to be too nervous, have fun and if it all goes well, give him a call after and see if he would like to meet up again. If you want to ask him strait after,and he says No, you might have a silly awkward moment and it could put a downer to the whole night.But if he would like to meet up again, leave it for a few days, don't come over too keen, and maybe you could try something else adventurous and a bit daring.

I think you should not do so well at first. Pretend he is better then you at ice skating and have him teach you. If you fall it will only be funny and bring you closer. Flirt with him and show that he is strong and that you like to be with him. Then if you have a good time, you should ask him out.

ice skating is one of those occasions when you have the most reason to be close to one another, hold hands all that other fun shtuff. I'd suggest you use that to your advantage, don't forget to smile at him and do whatever you can to not fall. But don't be too grabby that's just a total turn off. makes you seem to desperate and needy.

pretend u cant skate well. . hold on to him. . almost fall but make sure u fall into his arms., give him smiles and lovey looks. ( flirt tons)
