I know they are all deceased. But the government has no provisions for wreaths,markers,memorials-nothing.Yet you see U.S. officials attending solemn services for German war dead,Japenese, pardon me Japanese{I wouldn't want to offend any of the federal governments former enemies by spelling their name incorrectly} who died in nuclear {or nuculer} attacks.George bush in vietnam{better late then never} uWhy not forgive your own citizens, and their decendents?Even Abe Lincoln said, after being asked to set the tone for reconstruction:"I'd let them up easy" or Robert E. Lee:Now ya'll go home and become good Americans. So how about it,Should the fedaral government & the Veterans administration forgive and forget? They always accuse the southerners of keeping the rebellion alive,-how about them?Should they recognize these brave soldiers who lost their life &limb fighting for their states rights ? They were fighting for states rights ~ They were also Americans ~ They were not traitors ~ I wouldn't have sided with them, but they still deserve respect as fallen Americans.

In order to understand this you have to study the feeling of the former enemies after the US Civil War ended.

In the north - the feeling was that the Confederate dead were traitors and deserved nothing. In the south the view was that the Union soldiers were invaders and deserved nothing.

As a result there were no memorials to the opposing soldiers until about 40 years had passed and the bitter memories had faded.

BTW - the VA has nothing to do with war memorials. Most historic battlefields are managed by the National Park Service.

only because I carry different ideals from somebody else, that would not propose i have self belief obligated to target to renounce them from worshipping the way that they choose. I probable would not participate in a pagan ritual at a Veteran's Memorial, yet when it truly is what the persons being honored would have needed, then more desirable potential to 'em. Pagans have served in the militia, and they have the right to have the type of ceremony that suits their idea equipment. I propose, they *did* wrestle for the freedoms all of us appreciate -- consisting of the right to coach faith as we pick.

Your pretty smart. Anyways, unfortunately a lot people sadly, associate the beloved Confederate States Of America with the owning slaves and hate organizations such as the KKK. Sadly, not many people realize the war was fought for states' rights. Nor do they honor and respect the memory of General Robert E. Lee. Someday the CSA will no longer be oppressed, someday.

In Columbus,Ohio there is a confederate cemetery, where Camp Chase was during the Civil War. It is decorated, but don;t know who does it. It is a shame you can barely read the names on some of the stones, too. Also one up around Lake Erie,on Johnson's Island.

Why should we honor those who killed other Americans?

If you go down South, they have one commemeration after another for the Confederates! They have none for the Northern troops!
