It gets harder to buy for a child when he gets older. I have a almost 7 year old son that I find impossible to buy, since he isnt into the things he used to be into anymore.

I watch closly to see what interests him, I ask him. Since mxas is coming up, I took him to a store and had him look around for things he liked. Which helped out ALOT.

Now I know exactly what to get him without disappointing him.

We got our the Fisher-Price kids digital camera. We have not given it to him yet. If he likes it half as much as he likes my digital camera it should be a big hit.

find out wat he's into. most 5 year olds are into a specific character, maybe spongebob, spiderman... etc. get him a gift that will match his personality! good luck!
