why do Protestants object when a Catholic says that Mary is the Mother of God?

When Catholics say this we DON'T mean that Mary is a god and Mother of the Divine Holy Trinity.

We mean that she was chosen by God to be the HUMAN Mother of God the Son. This was part of how God humbled Himself, becoming like us IN ALL WAYS except for sin.

To become like us in all ways except for sin, God chose a very special human woman to become His Mother, a woman who God made "full of grace" at her conception.

Here is how Catholic teaching sees the relationship of Mary to God:

-Favored daughter of the Father
-Mother of the Son
-Spouse to the Holy Spirit

Okay lets see, well first of I'm Catholic. Essentially no Mary is not the mother of God. She is the birth mother of Jesus. Some Catholics depending on the practice believe different things. For example: If you ask a Roman Catholic this topic you'll be busy for a day and forever because they will tell you Mary is the mother of God etc. All in all believe what you want to believe study into it yourself and see what you can find out.

1) Mary isn't a favored daughter she has a lot of grace, and yes she was a conduit for the birth of the messiah. Nowhere does it say she was without sin either. if she were without sin then she could have been the perfect sin offering, and not needed to bare the messiah into this world. Also in the bible there are women who were prophets, and others who saved their people, I'd be more inclined to say one of them were Gods favored daughter, being they did more, and had more direct contact with God.

2) physically yes she is the mother of the messiah. But spiritually she is not alone in that position

Mark 3:32-35
32And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.
33And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren?
34And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
35For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

3) there is a concept in some circles that the holy spirit is the female aspect of God and would then be married to the father.

also can you provide scripture that supports any of your views?

Not all protestants disagree with the Catholic teaching on the relationship of Mary to God. You need to speak to those protestants - now all.

Good Luck!!!

in accordance to the teachings, Mary develop into the mum of Jesus. Jesus develop into Lord and Christ our Savior yet he develop into no longer God. Jesus develop into the Son of guy. God develop into no longer of guy. in accordance to the scriptures... "For God so loved the international that he gave his in effortless words begotten son:... this can let us know that Jesus develop into the in effortless words son that God actual had in human style. of direction this leaves a lot hypothesis as to who God is and who Jesus is and does this make Joseph God? no individual has those solutions and those who say they do are in effortless words speculating. if you're to believe the scriptures then you actually must believe that Jesus (Son of God and born of guy) develop into both A: a real miracle born of God by technique of a few divine intervention or B: God took on human style by skill of Joseph lengthy sufficient to impregnate Mary or C: not one of the above. (This opens up an entire new debate far too lengthy to get into right here in YA).

Lk 1:26-38 "And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God into a city of Galilee, called Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David: and the virgin's name was Mary. And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you: blessed are you among women. Who having heard, was troubled at his saying and thought with herself what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said to her: Fear not, Mary, for you have found grace with God. Behold you shall conceive in your womb and shall bring forth a son: and you shall call his name Jesus. He shall be great and shall be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David his father: and he shall reign in the house of Jacob for ever. And of his kingdom there shall be no end.

Yes, very complicated isnt it?
Why cant all religions just agree to believe in God, why do you all need these 'clever' leaders and 'teachers' to do that?
Pray to your God in peace, and in private, I'm not at all impressed seeing loads of worshipers coming out of where ever the choose to worship clasping their 'holy' books. Or little children going through their 'brain washing' lessons!
I dont believe in God, are you a better person than I because you do believe, whatever religion (teaching) you follow? I think not.

The Apostle's Greed says that Jesus was conceived by a ghost, not God.
And what was Joseph's problem being married to a young girl but having her remain a virgin ? Most guys figure they have a nasty job to do, so they get right at it.

I can't see why the protestants really care if the other people worship something they don't, its really none of their business. It is just a different faith, nothing more. We are not to judge.
