I'm currently on Celexa. I love it because it keeps me calm. Sometime too calm. I recently just got out of a situation, I can't call it a relationship, that ended very badly. Of course I was upset. I cried a little but not like I should. Now I feel, like oh well it is what is. Also, have this numb feeling like I'm blocking the pain. Is this normal?

medications are not the way to go. only a very few people actually HAVE to take medication. Education is the key visit the midwest center they have had amazing results I have used meds for decades tried them all but this program really helped me and countless others. they teach you how to change your own thought and reaction process. Cost? $14.95 for 30 day trial and when you see it helping just 6 payments of near $70. and you dont have to pay for meds again. worth a try for 14.95

You're observations are spot-on. That is exactly what depression medication does. It blocks your ability to feel mental discomfort or pain. As a comparison, do you know anyone who has an obvious problem that they just refuse to acknowledge or do anything about and yet it is ruining their life? I'll bet you know several people like this. Their solution is not to confront the problem. But, in life, that doesn't solve anything or allow us to make our lives better. It's the same with drugs. Drugs lead to a dwindling spiral of less confront and less life. I recommend you VERY SLOWLY wean yourself off the medication. And next time you're feeling blue, take a long (at least 1 hour) walk outside, look at things far away and GET SOME SPACE. Once you'll feeling better, you'll know what to do to deal with your problems if they still look like serious problems to you at that point. Life works best when confronted head on. Drugs are not the answer. You have it within you to make your life great! Wish you the best.

That is actually a common symptom of depression itself, called dissociation. The brain shuts down the emotion center, so that you stop feeling pain. The medication could be causing it, but it is likely just the depression condition itself.
