The CA 125 test - CA125, CA-125 - is a blood test that determines the level of an antigen in the blood which is known to be a tumor marker. It is commonly used to monitor the state of the disease in ovarian cancer patients, because 80-90% of women with ovarian cancer in its later stages will have signs of the antigen in their blood. It is also used as part of a screening plan for women who are at high risk for ovarian cancer, along with a pelvic exam (with the rectovaginal compoent) and transvaginal ultrasound. Unfortunately, the test is not as sensitive or specific as would be ideal. This means that there are "false positive" and "false negative" results associated with the test, and at unacceptably high rates to be used as a general screening test (as, for example, mammograms and Pap tests are used). Women known to be at high risk for ovarian cancer are often screened regularly, using a combination of the CA 125 test, transvaginal ultrasound, and a rectal/pelvic examination. If you have reason to think you have a high risk for ovarian cancer, you should ask your doctor about this. The most significant risk factor is having close relatives with histories of ovarian and/or breast cancer, particularly if they were younger than 50.
The bottom line is always seek medical advice from your doctor.
Hope this helps

There are a few varieties of ovarian cysts and it isn't wonderful for them to develop. They can intent agony and a few may also be harmful, however they aren't a huge drawback for melanoma except they're a problematic cyst. CA-one hundred twenty five isn't a device used to reveal for or diagnose melanoma this is a tumor marker used to track remedy after any person has been identified with ovarian melanoma. The proven fact that yours is fairly multiplied doesn’t rather imply plenty. At surgical procedure the ovary is shipped to pathology for a frozen phase. This is completed by way of the pathologist and is nearly a rapid strategy to check if melanoma is gift. It needs to be quick because the sufferer continues to be at the desk. The leisure of the ovary and something else eliminated is then thoroughly tested. If melanoma is located a hysterectomy is most commonly performed. If you desire to keep fertility and the melanoma is confined to the ovary they are going to most commonly wait till you're performed having youngsters to take away the opposite ovary and the uterus. You must have the surgical procedure due to the fact that is hemorrhaging and may end up in a harmful situation, however I might no longer provide the CA-one hundred twenty five and moment idea. It is most probably multiplied as a result of the cyst. There are a few stipulations that intent it to be multiplied.

CA-125 is not an accurance way to determine if you have ovarian cancer because other factors can elevate it.
However if other people in your family have had cancer, then it pays to be safe. Try looking for a Gynecologic Oncologist. They specialize in female cancer, esp/typically ovarian cancer. They can better determine if you have ovarian cancer.
The other tests to make sure would be a ultrasound and finally a CT-scan. This would give a clearer picture of what is going on...they would know very quickly from this if you have a big problem or maybe (luckily if you do have ovca) a stage 1 ovca.
Also check your symptoms...do you have abdominal pain, bloating, etc? Check out: http://www.ovariancancer.org/

Why did you have it done?
Studies have shown that the CA-125 blood test is NOT a good test to screen for cancer, and it should only be used to follow people who already have diagnosed cancer to determine how their treatment is going.

NO!
The first thing you need to do is FIND ANOTHER DOCTOR. This is your life we're talking about here.
There may be nothing to it, and I sincerely hope so, but you cannot afford to take that chance.
Find a doctor who will follow up on the result and make sure that you don't have cancer. Then report the first doctor to the state medical board.
