Everytime I am typing and want to go back and change the words, the words get "eaten up" as I type, and have to retype everthing over again. People know what im talking about but its hard to explain.

Press the "Insert" key. This will toggle the insert mode.

Look at your keyboard, where the numbers are off to the right side. Look at the O (zero) it has INS (insert) on it. Push Num Lock to turn it off. Then push the zero. Chow

Try hitting the "insert" key, or if you highlight what you want to change I think that keeps it from overtyping the rest of your sentence.
