Of course, if you feel it in your heart it is real. But you will have many , many other "real loves" throughout the rest of your life. No need to fret about it too much right now.

Kisses

Not romantic love, no. You may have strong feelings or attraction to someone, but at that age it's called infatuation or a "crush." Many adults don't even understand what being "in love" really means, so I truly don't believe it is possible at 16.

True love is more than just feelings. It is also made up of many actions and experiences. It takes mutual effort by both partners to grow and maintain it.

We as little girls get sold a big, fat fantasy of what "love" is all about, with diamonds and hearts and flowers, etc. That's not real and that's not what love is. Love is much better than all of that but it takes work and it takes practice.

What you want, both in love and in life, will change many times as you grow up. You'll most likely fall in love more than once, too. Always stay true to your heart and mind, and when the time and partner is right, you'll know it.

Yes, I'm 41 and still love my high school sweetheart. I still think about him every day. He's married with kids and so am I but that love was real. It was a family move that separated us right after high school. We tried the long distance (800 miles or so) thing for a year but he ended up dating another girl. (we had no cell phones or internet back then.... things may have been different if they were around then........) By the time I could get back to the area on my own he was already deep with her. He was confused and went between she and I for a while but eventually she won his heart.

I definitely think true love can happen at 16.

My Aunt and Uncle met in the 8th grade and married after high school. They stayed married until they both passed away just a year apart. They were in their 80's!!!

Yes I believe you can be in real love at 16 but at that young age you have yet to experience everything life has to offer. as far a sexual partners, life styles, and so forth. I believe people are still finding themselves out up to about the age of 30, and some people even older!! I am always hearing about some 40yo coming out the closet.

So short answer yes you can be in love at 16 depending on your definition of love. but you definition can change as you get older.

no because you can always have bad relationships at the age of 16-20 and maybe your true love comes on your age of about 20 something but sometimes yes it does.

being in love is just a chemical imbalance in your brain, thats why for the first 6 months you s-h-a-g like bunny rabbits! it feels real but its just hormones. however i've been with my wife for 8 years and she still makes my heart miss a beat and i still get butterflys in me tummy when she's been away for a few days and then comes back home. so what if your only 16. my advice is go for it, grab life by the goolies and enjoy yourself! nothing ventured, nothing gained. its better to regret something you have done than to regret something you haven't! I've been in love a few times before i met my wife and it felt real every time! good luck

No, I believe that most young people nowadays are too emotionally immature to deal with a serious relationship. Most of them don't even know what real life is all about.
