To protect it, buy some natural oils because ironing it will dry it out. It will damage it, but if you continue to put the natural oils in it whenever you iron it, your hair should be okay.

I honestly wouldn't make a habit of doing that. It is really easy to burn your hair that way. I would at least purchase a straightening iron. I have a Remington straightening iron called "wet to straight". I have paid alot of money for straightening irons in the past but this one was about 20.00 and works wonderfully! I have had it for almost two years and use it everyday with no damage to my hair. Good luck!

Go buy a flat iron, ceramic, dont use a clothes iron. I cant even imagine doing that, it would be so difficult. I love my flat iron
buy a heat protectant spray to use before flat ironing it.

Wash and condition. I cant stress how important this is. Also be sure NOT to over do this. It can damage and BURN your hair. Your hair is a great gift. Please take care.

UPDATE: please get a hair iron, there are some good ones out there for only 20$
Also, be sure not to keep the setting too high. Start out with a high number, to heat up faster, the 10 min. before you start, lower it.

Go get a ceramic straighening iron and it will be easier as well as healthier for your hair, and it will work just as well. You can also buy pre-ironing serums to help protect against heat damage.

Ironing your hair with out adding chemicals to prevent from burning is never good for the hair..try this...before ironing your hair apply small amount of Biosilk serum on your hair to prevent burning it. another good product to add is called "heat seal" from paul Mitchell, spary all over hair evenly then iron away, for best result, use flat iron instead of clothes iron. Best flat iron brand to buy is "Blue Saphire" expensive but its wort it, it comes with 10 years full warranty, and its really lite not heavy tool to use, one stroke is all it takes and the result last til your next shower. ironned hairs looks best the day after ironing it; when you wake up apply small amount of biosilk on hair and it will shine and full of body.

no no no! don't ever do that again.
that was for poeple of the 60's.....we are in the new milenium, buy a ion / ceramic flat iron , it will straighten your hair beautifully and give it shine, apply a heat protector product before hand, there are many in all stores.

Ironing your hair seems odd but its basically like using a hair straightener but I would definitly recommend a straightener though!

you are better off buying a ceramic hair straightener for about 30 bucks than using a iron which is way way way bad for your hair
