A seizure is temporary abnormal electric activity within the brain. Essentially, an area of the brain is firing all of its neurones intensely for a short period of time. Depening on where in the brain this happens, it can cause different things to happen, i.e. convulsions, alteration of mental state etc.
The medical syndrome of recurrent, unprovoked seizures is termed epilepsy, but some seizures may occur in people who do not have epilepsy, and these seizures can be caused by many things:
* Head injury which can lead to damage to the brain
* Intoxication with drugs or other toxic chemicals
* Infection, such as meningitis
* Metabolic disturbances, such as hypoglycaemia or hypoxia
* Withdrawal from drugs
* Brain tumours
* Repetative flashing lights
Certain television and video games can trigger photosensitive epilepsy, such as the infamous episode of Pokemon, Electric Soldier Porygon that caused thousands of japanese children to complain of vision disturbances, and 685 children having to be taken to hospitals by ambulances.

I have Epilepsy *Seizure Disorder* and from my research over the years as to the causes of seizures it can be a lot of things...
To this day doctors can only speculate as to the reasons for some seizures....Ie. Blinking Lights, Change in diet, Not keep consistant with anti-convulsion medications, not enough sleep, not enough eating, dehydration, trama to the neurol system in the brain, smoking, drinking alchol, over exsertion (STRESS).....
What happens during the seizure is that the brain gets electronic impulses from different areas of the body and the impulses are not tranmitted properly to the right regions of the brain....Causing the brain to "OVER LOAD" thus causing the person to go into a "Convulsive Shock" AKA *SEIZURE*......Some People have Grandmal seizures like I do which cause the body to shut down and the person goes into shaking, banging their heads and uncontrolable twices and vocal cries....Some people have Petiet Mal seizures which a person falls to the ground but is still aware of their surroundings, and some people have Tempral Lobe Seizures which happen really fast and are sometimes not even noticed by the person having the seizure. The tempral lobe seizure dont us I have all 3 types of seizures (THOUGH THERE ARE MANY TYPES) but I can account for my experience having petiet, tempral lobe & grandmal seizures....Hope this information helps

Epilepsy or stimulants such as strobe lights can cause the nerves in your brain to fire repetitively, without stopping. This is what is termed a seizure, resulting in altered in mental state, tonic or clonic movements, convulsions, orvarious other psych symptoms.

Aw! I rescued a domestic dog from abusive human beings. Sickos, they are. ok, my kitten is in simple terms approximately a three hundred and sixty 5 days, and she or he's had seizures on the grounds that start. (She died on me a pair situations!) I in simple terms carry her till they bypass...my vet suggested there's no longer lots he can do for her. So, I verify she's continually as comfortable as plausible.
