Whenever I start to clean out my cat's littler box, she will step right in it WHILE I'm cleaning it and she'll pee! Right in front of me! Aren't cat's supposed to not want people around when they pee? She is totally immodest, haha. What does this mean?

My cats love to pee as I'm cleaning the litter box. One of them does it to assert her dominance. She gets to go first because she is alpha. The other does it because she loves a clean box. I just let them pee then continue cleaning. The alpha follows me from box to box marking her territory. The other one just does it the one time because she likes a clean box.

When my husband cleans the boxes, the alpha kitty doesn't come, but the one who likes clean boxes does. We joke that it's because my husband has a higher rank than the alpha kitty.

I also have a kitty that loves to roll around in the clean litter. No matter what I do, he just won't stop. Now we have to close the doors to the rooms when we clean. Luckily, he only really does it while we're cleaning and not all the time! :-)

I've had cats do this too.

Some cats are very fastidious about their litter boxes and do not want to use a "dirty" one.

I have an indoor/outdoor cat. He was originally an outdoor cat, but when I adopted him, I tried to make him an indoor dweller. He was terribly unhappy and eventually learned to open the doors in my house and go out the cat-flap used by another cat. My interior doors do not have knobs; they have handles. So he would stretch himself up tall, pull down on the handle with both paws, and push. He began to come and go as he pleased...

When he was ill recently and recuperating, I sequestered him in a room and wrapped the handle in a ton of sticky tape so he couldn't escape. My cat, Basil, had to use a litter box, and he didn't like it. He would perch on the edge like a bird...perfectly balanced, but not in the box at all.

I have digressed a bit from the question, but my point is that some cats do have strange toileting habits, don't they?

One thing you may try is a clumping litter so that you can scoop out solid wastes and clumps of liquid. If he insists on a clean box, this may be the answer.

My cat goes in her box immediately after it's been cleaned and has no qualms about doing it right in front of others, so I guess it depends on the cat. Of course, she is a wee bit more patient (no pun intended), as she does wait until we're actually done cleaning it and have put the lid back on.

confident it would desire to be the flea allergy making her jumpy and uncomfortable. it incredibly is slightly ordinary that she chooses products to pee in or on-- that sounds greater behavioral. yet, do rule out the flea allergy element by using making particular she's on benefit or Frontline just about all 12 months long, and ascertain your house is flea loose, perhaps utilising a fogger. If she has a very undesirable flea allergy, purely one flea chew would want tocontinual her loopy. It additionally could be a mild urinary tract or bladder an infection. It does no longer harm to have a urinalysis achieved at your vet. I artwork at a vet medical institution, and on occasion we see cats that latest for what we call "irrelevant urination", and upon examination we detect them to be flea infested, yet with out urinary abnormalities. Treating the flea infestation is the order of the day. no longer asserting your cat is infested, yet actual she's super-gentle.

My two kittens do that. I just give them a look and when they finish they just rub against my leg purring then walk off leaving me to get the newly formed clump in the litterbox. I think its them remarking their litterbox, they tend to get upset when anyone other than my stepfather and me clean the box though.

Take advantage of this and train her to pee in the toilet. No more litter box!

She sounds young, and she is just making sure it's still her litter box. She'll stop with time, it's kind of cute.
