I am going to paint a painting of our dog for my mom for christmas. I took some cute pictures which i will base the painting on, but i dont know which picture to use. One of the pictures i really love, my dog's mouth is wide open and smiling, and he looks really beautiful in the pic. But my mom saw that pic and she commented on how my dog looked weird with his mouth open and didn't seem to like it as much as the other one. The other pic was just a side view of my dog and not very interesting and looks more difficult to paint well. As an artist, i am more inspired by the one that I like, and i really want to paint it but i also dont want to paint something that she won't like as much. Which one should i paint; her favorite or my favorite???

Paint the one you like - your feelings for the dog and your passion for painting will show. Painting the one that doesn't inspire you is the same as giving Mom the photograph!
Maybe change the dog's mouth a bit so it looks more natural... but above all, have fun - it comes out in your art!
