Explain the bearing series for ball bearings?

There are lot of series with single and multiple suffixes,prefixes and are different for different companies like:skf,fag,timken,NBC ETC.

You seem to be referring to the ABEC series. This is a description of how precise the bearings are. Less precise bearings work just fine for a lot of applications, and they are very cheap and plentiful. More demanding situations in terms of load (particularly shock loading) demand more precise bearings of a closer fit.

This tolerance has to do with not only the bearing itself, but the accuracy of the hole into which the bearing is placed as well.

It is a list of bearings of increasing size. There are several metric series, and several inch series, each with different characteristics- with or without flanges, with or without seals, with or without shields.

I am a retired industrial maintenance technician, and had to deal with these series whenever a bearing had to be replaced, and the manuals for the machine were not available.
