If you want privacy just close the door. You are in your parents house and should abide by their rules. Talk to them about perhaps having a sign on the door... "privacy please" for when you want to be left alone (but keep in mind they can come in if they want to) and to please knock and wait for you to say come in if they want to come in while you have that sign up.

Having a door you cannot lock is MUCH better than having NO door at all.

Sounds like you just want privacy. But there are 2 types of privacy...good and bad. if you are just trying to relax and be alone, thats good. If you are in the doing something wrong, like on the computer or something, then thats bad... so first decide what it is you are really upset about. is it the lack of privacy? or is not beng able to do what it is you want to do. Yes this is self analysis time.
If it's the good privacy...just ask to sit down with mom and dad and tell them why you want to lock the door... but talk to them like a mature individual... not a raging teen.

If they still say no to the locks.... accept it.... and find something else to worry about. After all, it is their house and you are a minor.

When you live in thier house you live by thier rules.
You need alot more than a lock, you need to open up the lines of communication with your parents. You need to talk openly without judgement.
You could probably make an agreement with them to put a "do not disturb" sign on the door and they should respect your privacy unless of course you.ve given them some reason to distrust you.

Use a blockade, if you want privacy or something. Like a doorstop or a chair. its technically not the lock, but it work.
