well, for some men the word is used lightly, like just another word in their habit vocabulary.
But for alot it is not something they use unless they are very sentimental towards.In most cases its used the same as saying honey or sweetie.
If I was you I would check with others that he knows and see if he uses that word with them.If not, then I would have to say he has a special interest in you.

I say that to a women I like and it is just a little pet name the way I use it. It just means he likes you as a person most of the time, some guys say it in a manner that they want sex.

Its an affectionate term, and can mean he likes you or he just calls every girl baby. It doesn't necessarily mean anything, though it could as well.Flirting, or can't rember your name, sometimes he just does it, its a pet name, hes pampering you.
