Well first you should have a general idea of when the rut is getting ready to take place. Bucks will start chasing does and start wandering all over the place in seek of a hot doe. Noticing new rubs and scrapes is a sure sign. Just get out and scout your hunting area and you will be able to tell.

Too bad for all the un-informed hunters here. The first thing to note is like rectums all hunters have a theory. The best way to determine rut times is to contact the local game warden or Ag Extension Agent in where you are planning on hunting. This person is a wealth of free information with facts and evidence not theories. It is also a great relationship for you to have. They will be able to tell you what type of deer have been killed or seen and what your deer population, doe/buck ratio and recent harvest have or will be.

And to the beret wearing pinko that said "That is illegal" go back to Russia or learn the laws...commie pinko rat.
