When I first got saved 9yrs. ago I attended a non-denominational church that supposedly spoke in tongues, even then I thought it was wrong because everyone was basically chanting the same thing. I didn't like it, it sounded scarey more than Holy. Speaking in tongues is private prayer between a person and the Holy Ghost. Where tongues is being spoken there must be an interpreter or else what benefit is that to others. Speaking in tongues edifies the body.

Yes I have and no it didn't make any sense because it was babbling. I don't believe what we hear in some churches today is actual "biblical" tongues. I believe it is a real gift, but that what we hear today in church is emotionalism pure and simple. It's pretty clear in the bible that the gift of tongues was a known language and the gift was for the expressed purpose of teaching the gospel to people that didn't understand your language.

I have heard people "speaking in tongues." What they said never made sense, but in my cousin's case the act itself made some sense. He was doing it so he could get next to this beautiful Pentecostal chick.

Only when it's interpreted. The Apostle Paul urged Christians not to speak in tongues unless there is someone to interpret, so the two of you agree. There are not many who are better to agree with. Good point.

Yes. Speaking in tongues doesn't make any sense unless you get an interpatation for it. That's what the bible says about it.

When I attended a bible study with my parents this one lady started speaking in tongues. i think it may have been a foreign language and she just wanted peoplee to think she was spiritual because she also had this strange accent and i highly doubt english was her first language. But it made no sense to me.

Sad to say, I have actually. It freaked me out! The poor sap thought he was serving God too. What a pathetic creature.Did it or does it make any sense? Maybe to the powers of darkness. But that would be it.

I've heard recordings on the internet, but not in real life. No, it didn't make sense, and didn't even sound like a real language.

So many church misuse this, the Bible talks about speaking in a different language, not in some heavenly language like the churches try to do. Read your Bible and you will understand this.
