Ok when you are u were a baby in ur moms stomach, both mom and dad gave a gene. It depends which hair dominates the other. Like black hair and blonde hair, black dominates it and is more likley to have that color of hair. but it is like a chance thing. It can come from either. Oh yeah and there could be a gene that one of ur parents were given but not used so then it can still be passed down to u. Like if both parents have brown eyes and u have blue, maybe one of their parents passed it down.

Well, both. But have you ever heard of recessive and dominant genes? For instance, red hair is a very recessive gene. That means that if your mom had red hair and your dad had brown hair, you will have brown hair. So, the more recessive, the less likely it is that you will get it. The more dominant, the more likely. Here is the hair color gene chart from recessive to dominant: red hair blond hair brown or black I don't really know much about the texture though.

Genes are a crap shoot.
I got my moms hair gene (straight), both my sisters got my dads hair gene (wicked curly). For some people they get both. In my case that would have been a really nice wave. Sigh!

both. my mom has blonde hair and my dad has very dark brown hair. when i was a baby my hair was blonde but now it is brown.

i have a four month old baby and he has reddish hair like his dad right now.
